Default RE: DTC Codes

Code P1510="throttle actuator control limited performance mode". This is essentially a limp mode feature to prevent full throttle conditions in the event of some type of failure.

P2138="Twist grip sensor" voltage correlation error. Both sides of the voltage range when at part throttle should equal 5.0 volts when added together. When they do not, this code is set.

Both can result from the same event in that what may have caused the P2138 can also trigger the P1510. Both can be caused by a poor or momentarily lost connection at the twist grip connector (inside the handlebars).

Since both have been cleared and not returned indicates that they were historical in nature and the cause may have been transient and/or corrected. If they appear again, a trip to your dealer would be strongly recommended to not only diagnose but to capture in history for future reference, if needed.

Thanks Mike, as usual you are really on top of things. I called the shop were I bought the bike and they told me it had to be hooked up to the Digital tech to tell them what the
codes meant. I've ordered the manuals for future reference. I'll be getting with you shortly to install my Sert and download a map. I 've purchased a set of Rush slip-ons with
2.25 baffles. Mike would it be safe to install the mufflers and SE AC and ride it over to your place from Hillsboro to install the SERT and map, or should just install the mufflers
and let you guys install the A/C there ? Again Mike thanks for your assitance.

Your OK to install and run over so long as it does not include extended freeway miles at a set rpm. Coming over on surface streets means the throttle/rpms/load will be transitioning continuosly through any rich or lean areas and not spending enough time at any one to cause damage. Otherwise, leave the stock air cleaner in place.
