Default Torque cones

Mike, is there any advantage of using the torque cones? I was told that it would increase low end torque on any exhaust system and also help with the decel popping on true duals. Is there any truth to this, and if it is, is there one type that is better than the others? Some state they are pressed and other are machined. Thanks

Our testing over several years has not shown tq cones to improve low end tq and exhaust gas temps in the head get really high. Not what you want when the exh valve guides already struggle to keep cool. If you wish to run them, there are types that slip in between the head pipe and exhaust gasket. The Big City Thunder slip in venturi's on the other hand work very well.

Thanks for the reply. When you say the Big City Thunder ones work very well, are you talking about increasing the low end torque or helping curb the decel popping or both? Also, are you saying I can use these and not worry about increasing the head temperature that you were talking about? Where would be the best place to get these? Thanks

I should have been more clear. The Big City parts are essentially venturi's and are primarily used in straight pipes. They go near the end and so do not reduce volume (by much), do not increase exh temps (in the port) and really pick up low end torque in these cases. Probably would not do much for decel pop. You can try the Torque cones to see if they do help, each combo responds differently. What I was saying earlier is that in our humble testing, we've not been able to demonstrate an advantage with them installed and cannot substantiat these claims.
