Mike,I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to talk with me on the phone. That's amazing customer service considering how busy you are and just getting back from OOT! As we discussed, I retarded the timing a little in the areas of concern. Now I just have rare spotty knock retard <= 3 degrees. I looked closely at the F/R VE tables and "mapped" the O2 bias voltage in the closed loop area accordingly. For a big bike with a big guy on it, this thing is a rocket! I am really not able to ride it hard enough to truelly appreciate just how potent it is. I may do one quick dyno run next month just to see - I am guessing close to 80/100. The only nagging concern I have before I go blasting kudos on all the forums is head temp. I noticed that after test riding pretty hard, when I stopped at idle to disconnect me - backpack - computer - wires, temp was up to 269. What do you think?

270-280 is prretty normal (assuming head temp on data, not laser). If the bike were overtemping we would be getting audible and continuous detonation and possibly some lifter noise (thin oil). These motors are designed to be lean burn and tend to run substantially hotter than earlier models (EV's). They can get away with this partly due to the piston spray jets, larger fin area and greater oil flow throughout. Note that retarding timing can move a lot of the heat to the exhaust and many owners tend to think the bike is hotter when it is actually just the exh pipes.

Roger data temp, laser next to plug not over 350. The bike is ready to race, I just need a couple of rolls of duck tape for my hands and A** ; )
