Mike,
When installing the timken bearing conversion
into a 2008 Dyna series crankcase, what is the correct
part number for the sprocket spacer to complete the
conversion.
The crank is a S&S in a 2008 FXDB.

Thanks Mike,
Tony

Suspect it should be 24008-99A, but cannot confirm without fitting to an actual bike.

Mike,
Thanks for the info and taking the time to help.
Of the three dealers I asked, none can tell me
which spacer to use. How can I determine when I
have the correct one ?
thanks again,
Tony

You can confirm by checking primary chain alignment to the primary case gasket surface, front to back. If the chain is parallel (or even) with the gasket surface, with the sprocket nut lightly tight, your good to go.

Important-before doing so and since we are dealing with possible unknowns, make sure the inside of the alternator rotor does not hit the stator windings (bad, damaged parts). You can do this by placing a straight edge on the installed spacer face and rotating around the stator. If it clears the windings, your OK to install the rotor and check the chain alignment.

An incorrect spacer will either cause the rotor to hit the windings (too short), or the chain will be WAY out of line (too long).

Mike,
I do all my own work and that is the exact info I
needed. The2009 parts & accessory catalog,page514
item F lists a new part # 11887 for the later bikes.
All the dealers I called said that # 11887 did not
show on their listings, but that was a couple months
ago. That # does seem odd, but its in the catalog.
It really puts my mind at ease now to know how to
check it properly. Now I finally found the man with
the answers. You are the man Mike

Thanks, Tony

Not sure why the part number change. I measured an 09 Touring model spacer and it measured the same as an earlier one. There is the chance you may have to lathe cut the spacer if too long or use some shims if too short (early EV/Shovel shims will work and come in a variety of sizes) to get the chain to align. Spec is +- .030 but I like to see it within .010 when measured off the gasket surface to a chain side plate as far forward (compensator) and as far back (clutch basket) as possible. Use a straight edge across the primary cover gasket surface to measure in to the chain.
