New Harley guy here. I am the proud soon-to-be-owner (summer this year) of a 06 Softail Classic(Thanks, Rog). Right now it is bone stock. Initially I wanted to black it out, like a Night Train, but now I am looking at it from the chrome/polished standpoint. I am also wanting more power, I love my cars fast, and want to do that to the Harley as well.
I stopped at the local dealer here in Fort Walton Beach, and happened to start talking to the General Manager. I told him I was looking at the SE 103 engine kit, and he said it wasn't very cost effective. He suggested cams (forget the the grind he mentioned), gear drives (he said the factory chain drive can suffer breakage), exhaust and a tune. I was also thinking of a 250mm fat rear end kit, but I am no just thinking of a different rear fender and stickier rubber, it is a 200mm tire after all. Basically I want to add 15 to 25 HP and ft/lbs of torque (at least), better handling via suspension, and exhaust.
I want to do a solo seat for looks, with some kind of a convertible passenger seat (for the wife).
Here is my list so far:
Vance and Hines Big Shots staggered
Power Commander
re-spring front end
re-spring rear end
??? What else ??? Suggestions would be great
Thanks,
Gary
