I would like to add compression to my 08 se 110cvo softail? I know it's 9:3:1 now and has SE255 cams if it's best will change them also. I want to better the motor not build a drag racer i would like to have the heads ported also.
What would the best compression be for 92-93 fuel? Should the heads be milled or chambers welded or new dome pistons? thanks!

We have special pistons just for this application. They are an exclusive design made by JE to a joint spec by Baisley and Latus, coated, offset wristpins and use an Axtell ring package (easy to get). Designed specifically to work with ported CVO ACR 110 heads using larger valves and high cam TDC's. They can be final machined to required compression or lightened if not machined. A cam change would be required as the 255's do not like much above 9.5 compression (detonation). With the correct cam choice 91-92 octane will be fine.

Be sure to read my comments on the 255's and check out the dyno tests we did with a 110 using ported heads, several cams and exhausts. Note particularly the tq numbers from 2-3K and the effects on that area. Charts are listed under "110 Lat Paks, 2007 FLHTCUSE2" in our dyno library on this site.

No need to weld and reshape the combustion chambers or mill heads. Is there a big weight diff in my stock piston to this one?
Do i need bigger valves? Whats do i have now?

Thanks!

The pistons are heavier than stock as we left material in the dome design to allow compression adjustments via machining the dome down. Once compression is set, we mill the underside to lighten if needed. No need to rechamber or mill the heads, both tough with the CVO110 castings and ACRs.

We are currently leaving the intake valve size the same but use a higher flowing design. The exhaust is typically larger when porting the heads. I'm not at the shop to look up the sizes (can't remember and do not want to mis-quote), so not sure.

Thanks mike for all info
I'm getting geared up to do this the cold is here.. So i can get started on this project.. My bike only has 960 miles on it anything i should look into? What do you think of the SE 251 cams? I do want to ship the heads out to be ported.

I'm a huge fan of the 251's and would be a good match for use with unported stock heads/SE pistons. With ported heads and our pistons the 257, or even 258's, would take better advantage of these. Just know that when pulled down to 2200-2500 rpm's a downshift will be required to make best use of the power band.

Milage is not a concern but some clutch up-grades will be required. We like the AIM/TPP/VP lockups along with the SE diaphram spring. Another option could be a larger throttlebody (with ported heads). Last, tuning with SERT (or other) will be required.

BTW, CVO 110+ heads have 2.120in/1.623ex valves. I believe Baisley goe's with either 1.650 or 1.680 ex. on these but would leave this to them for final decision, when ported.

I don't ride below 2500 now so thats not a problem.. I would like to keep my Stock 50mm TB.. Your JE pistons and the best cam for ported heads and final compression. How do i find more on the head porting do they have a web site?

Best to call 503-289-1251 and ask for Dan.
