I own a 2006 FLHTCUI 88ci. SE stage I kit W/V&H Big Shot Duels. What can effectively gain by having getting the SERT and having it Dyno tuned.

In the "Fuel Injection" catagory, under "EFI calibration FAQ", is a basic explaination of the EFI system and when devices such as SERT are recommended.

The entire fuel injection system map (whether ours or H-D's) works to base values which are assumed to be synchronized with the actual tail pipe measured AFR values. Any changes made to the bike that changes air flow means the ASSUMED values no longer match ACTUAL values. The exhaust changes made to your bike have significantly changed how that motor process air flow and the fuel system (not having a way to know about those changes) should be recalibrated (mapped) to account for those changes (synchronized). The dyno is the tool we use to sample the AFR's at various points which then allows us to know how much and where those fuel changes are required. The changes are made to the VE tables for each cylinder (independently). Once done, all other offset tables (or "correction" tables) will be accurate in their changes because the actual tailpipe AFR's and computer programed base AFR's are matched and real. The new O2 equiped bikes have a certian amount of this ability with the closed loop feature (doing essentially the same thing we do using the dyno).

Normally, the end results are cooler running, less hesitation/surging, improved overall driveability, less likely to go into heat management, less likely to have detonation, increased hp/tq and less possibility of motor damage due to excessively lean conditions at unkown rpm's/loads. The more radical the combination or changes, the more pronounced the benifits. Additionally, SERT provides the ability to address individual issues or concerns based on riding style, invironment or owners preferences. last, satisfactory results and mapping accuracy are a function of the tuners methodology and proficiency with SERT.

Thank you so much for the speedy reply and information. Sounds as though I should have asked this under the "Fuel Injection" catagory. My bikes pipes are always black even after a short ride and has lost power most noticably when rolling on the throttle to pass another vehicle. I should not have to shift down one or two to get this done. It sounds to me as though I should invest in this worthy tool. Thanks again for such a speedy and informative reply.
