Hi Mike, I currently own a 99 FLHR with a dealer installed 95" kit with a woods #6 cam (chain drive with the rear cam bearing updated) SE ign. HR42, SE adj. pushrods, SE air cleaner, SE mufflers/stock duals. 30.000 miles. Recently I have noticed a noisey valve train, and have heard rumors of bad chain tensioners and cam plates. I purchased a fueling oil pump and lifter package a while back and was planning on installing them this fall as well as new tensioners. Do you think an upgraded cam support plate is needed? Which one would you suggest? I'm very happy with the tourque this motor puts out even with stock heads. I've never had it dynoed. What would you guess the tourque would be? Thanks for the time, this is a very informative forum! Mike

The cam plates themselves really have not had problems but were updated with the "B" pumps to allow for better pump alignment. So we recommend using a new stock plate which will incorporate changes made to date. SE has introduced a billet plate which uses the 07L pump, but since you already the Fueling and lifters these would be fine to use. Expect 82-88hp and 95-105tq.

Thanks for the quick reply Mike, so if I install a new cam plate should I also use a stiffer bypass valve spring? I've had no problems with the stock one. Also, have the replacement tensioners been re-desighned to last longer? Thank you for the time! Mike

We've been installing the spring (LMR-002) in all motors getting cam changes with no problems to date. The tensioners did get a revision since 1999 to address wear issues but I'm not aware of later changes.

Mike, your parts page shows two different cam plates, 25267-99A and 25267-99B. I'm assuming I want the A for my 99FLHR, Correct? Mike

Yes, you want the "B" part number. It'll have a screw in the kit to block off the counterbalancer screen port not used on earlier models. This is a must do as oil will flow freely out the plate and into the cam chest, just follow the included instructions.

Mike, that's strange, I would think the B part would be for the counterbalanced motor, probably referes to a second generation part. Also, with the new cam plate will I also need to use the EVO lifter block alighnment screws? Sorry for all the Questions, Thanks for this valuable service! Mike

The "B" is a revision designation. You can use the alignment screws or align by rotating the motor with the pumps screws backed off 1/4 turn from snug (not tight). The screws are quicker and easier but some techs believe the rotation method to be more accurate.
