Mike,

I got your name from Greg Coen down here in Eugene. I have a '01 FLHRCI and I recently relocated to Oregon from Colorado. While in CO, I was getting about 200 miles on the tank before the refill light would come on. Out here, I'm getting around 160. Plus, I smell gas a hell of a lot more than I'm used to.

I had a SERT installed while in Colorado, so I'm sure that the bike was mapped out at 6000+ feet altitude and dyno tuned using that map. I'm thinking that I need a new map and that the computer is asking for way more than it needs.

I'm also having Greg put on a set of Rinehart True Duals, so I'm thinking I'll need to do it anyway.

Thoughts?
Thanks
Mark

In theory, the sensors should correct for the altitude change but their offsets are not always accurate. Also, high altitude mapping should actually go lean as we approach sea level. You may have a temp sensor skewing to cold causing a rich condition. The Magneti-Merrelli system was fairly crude and so may not have enough latitude to account for the large change in environment. Remapping may be needed but I would also confirm that the sensors are in range before doing so. We may also want to look at the cold start/cold/hot idles as well. Your correct about it (remapping) being even more true with the RH's intsalled as the rear cylinder will now see an entirely different air flow than before (the front also but less so).
