Hello Mike,I have enjoyed reading your answers to so many questions. I've been at the pc for a week now trying to absorb info. on this site.I have a 07 dyna h/f a/c,rush slipons,T man 625 cams, sert.Bike sounds great dyno at 92 hp 98 tq.I would like to increase compression.I do my own work. What else might I do to max out 96 ?Is there a piston and thinner head gasket combo?Working on shoe string budget. Thanks for your time.
You can deck the heads about .060 and or deck them .045 and use the Cometic .030 head gasket. This should give about 10.2-10.5 compression (would want to cc the heads while decking to insure the correct amount to remove, at least on one). Cheap compression and uses your flat top pistons. The TM625's like this compression range. You'll need shorter pushrods or adjustables (may already have as part of the original cam install). You may also have to belt sand (or hand file) the manifold for fit between the heads.

Thanks Mike,I plan to remove heads soon. can you tell me what type of gains I might get having them ported and polished? Also do you know of a source that can teach me how to port and polish? Thanks
There are several books on head porting, Barnes and Nobles often has them in there Automotive technical area. Motorbooks International is another good source. As this is a real art and science we differ to those who've been doing it a while ike Baisley Hi-Performance. Your gains with routine porting and the compression increase could be as much as 10-12 from 3k on with some from 1.5 on but less. Baisley's Hybrid heads (welded and recontoured) can gain as much as 30hp but require all the matching parts to make these gains.
