Mike,
I have an 06 RK with 95in Stage II. I put v&H true dual pipes with SE mufflers and had SERT mapped by dealer. Not happy with the tune so I plan to re-install factory pipes and download correct calibration from SERT program. When I open the calibration, all fields show "0". Is this normal or should there be values in the MAP? I also get an error when connecting to the bike that states "no com port selected". I am computer ignorant, what do I need to do?
Thanks
Tom
In "basic mode" all fields will show 0 until altered and is normal for and SERT O.E. cal when opened (unless someone changed them and then saved with the same file name). The values represent the amount of change to both cylinders from the "base" or original cal. If you have a copy of the custom map from your dealer you can review and should see values other than 0. In "advanced mode" you'll be in the VE tables and see the actual values.
In "ECM program control" in the upper left corner you will see "com port". Select this and then select any port highlighted in black, then select "get ECM info" and you should then see your ecm part number, vin number and cal currently in your ecm. If these appear, you can then select "program ECM". Very important, wait for the entire sequence to complete before turning of the ignition. It will tell you to turn off ign for 10 secondes when complete.
Review the "help" file in SERT for more detail.

Mike,
Thanks for the help. I got the SERT to work and downloaded the 95 in stage II map. Bike runs better than previous but still has an intermittent miss/blip when at light throttle. Most noticable at 15 mph in 1st gear. Is this normal or can I tune it out? It's been there since new. Do you have a map for a 2006 RK with big bore SE Stage II that may be better than SERT calibration?
Thanks

Mike,
Got another question that is bugging me. Going from true duals to stock pipes and vice versa with same mufflers supposedly requires EFI map changes because of difference in rear cylinder flow. If that is the case, how can a bike with a carb run with both types when there is no ability to adjust each cylinder seperately?
Thanks
Tom
I'l check our files. Do you have the 8 or 25 degree injectors?
Mike
A carb system is signal based and so kind of adapts. That signal is the air flow through the carb dictated by exhaust, cams and motor size. That creats the pressure difference between the emulsion tube in the throat and fuel in the float bowl which then causes fuel to flow through the tube. An air flow change caused by an exhaust will signal the carb differently and increase or decrease the amount of fuel delivered. Because the carb feeds both cylinders at once, there are compromises in it's ability to deliver the correct amount of fuel at all times under all circumstance (stand off from reversion and crosstalk in the manifold due to the uneven firing order of the cylinders also screw up the signal). An EFI system must be told how much fuel to deliver to match the air flow through the motor at any point in time (mapping). But this allows it to be very correct for all situations and it is less affected by reversion and crosstalk.

Mike,
Using your advice, I got the bike close. Had to lean it out. Broke down and took to dealer for final check, needed minor tweaking. Runs pretty good now. Interesting observation. After changing from true duals to factory pipes, HP went up by 1.
Thanks
Tom
Funny how that works!!!
