Mike, This may be a stupid question but ....here goes. I'm almost finished with the build on my CVO 103. I'm thinking about replacing the SE tear drop cleaner with one of the SE Heavy Breathers (just like the look). My question is should I account for the lack of air flowing into the heavy breather since the bike is stationary on the dyno rather than actual moving? Should I look to be a little rich on the dyno and assume that forward motion will add air to the mixture?
Sometimes stupid answers but not stupid questions. Our testing has shown that added fuel is not required but we have a fan blowing over the front cylinder anyway and this may be sort of simulating some of this. The air cleaner element, and it's flat nose, tends to break up the air and there is very little ram air effect. To be safe, I would add some fuel and tune for around 12.6-12.8 afr. The problem is that rpms do not neccessarily relate to speed and the amount of air flowing over the air cleaner (I.E., 5k rpm in 1st gear does not equal the mph it does when in 5th) and we cannot tune for mph differences, so you'll be overly rich at lower mph's.
Mike
