Mike,
I have an 04 FLTRI that has motor work and 95 ci. I am using Rhinehart true duels now. It dynoed 98hp & 108 fpt. The runs started at 2000 rpm and there was a significant dip at the start of the runs and a rich mixture. Would 2 into 1 exhaust alleviate this? Would D&D or Supertrapp be the better choice in your opinion? Do you think that there would be hp & torque gains?
Thanks,
Mark

I'm looking at Supertrapp and D and D with the quiet baffle and I'll be interested in Mikes answer also.

Mike, I check everyday to see if I have an answer yet. I'm still waiting, patiently.

Apoligies for late reply, racing, school and vacation have krept in. Also now that replies can and often do take a week or more (still better then three months for a magazine reply). We'll be posting a sort of expaination of this soon.

I really like the D&D 2-1 with the quiet baffles. For 88-103 cubic inches with mild performance mods, the Fatcat system is a good choice. For 103+ or more aggresive mods (small motors with really good heads), the Baorzilla/quite baffle is a better choice. You'll have to order directly from D&D to get the quiet baffles and they charge a $28.00 repackaging fee to change from standard baffles.
Thank you for your patience.

Thanks for the answer. I've used D&D mufflers before on a Dyna I had and they worked well.

Hi Mike have you listened to the quiet baffles VS the standard baffle? I have driven a bike with the standard baffle and it's loud. D and D claims 50% quieter and technically 50% quieter would be 10DB and that would be noticeable. wondering if 10 DB less is a reality or marketing hype? Any opinions appreciated. thank you

Yes, the standards are loud. We have not put our DB meter test cell up yet but hope to in the future (got the meter, stand and test proceedures but not a controlled site. Doesn't work in the dyno room), so I cannot validate the DB numbers. The quiet baffles are noticably better but we've tended to think this to be more a result of the deeper, more baretone note (more pleasing to the ears, not so harsh as the std baffle). Even with the quiet baffles, still not the quietest system out there.

Mike,

The D&D Fatcat, Bassani Road Rage and RB Racing LSR are often mentioned as the best performing 2-1 pipes with the latest stepped header and megaphone designs. I would guess you have had experience with all three of these systems.

How would you compare them performance wise? I know they are all loud pipes!

Thanks,

Sean

Would you say that the Supertrapp 2-1 with the end cap on is the most quiet 2-1 you have tested? And how well do the Supertrapp 2-1 tune? Thankyou.

Over at V-twinforum many claim the RB racing Black hole is a good product and quiet but many claim RB racing is very hard to deal with.

Correct on both counts. We have a Balck Hole system ready for install as soon as we get the Heads back and will have info, on a least one bike, for that soon.
