Hello,

I have a 2007 FLHTCUSE2, with SERT and V&H duals. I am still concerned about heat issues. What is the maximum oil temp before I should think about shutting it down. The other day when it was 65 degrees and I was in traffic, the dip-stick temp guage showed 271 degrees.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

210-250 is normal operating range for TC oil temps. 270 is not unusual and will be seen in parade situations. It is close to the 280 we suggest where cool down should be considered. The oil will not start to break down until over 320 but the bike will normally start showing signs of stress before that. Things like noisy lifters, detonation, slow idle, etc. Should any of these occur, it's time to give the bike a rest.
