Hi Mike, I am new to this forum and I must say I am very impressed with your dedication to this site and I want to thank you for all your answers. Now for my question. I have a 2007 FLHX that I want to put the HD oil temp gauge fairing mount P/N 75324-05 in and take out my ambient temp gauge. I have read that people are having problems with the oil temp gauge not reading correctly. I think because of where the sending unit is placed even with the new P/N 26133-07 oil temp adapter kit. This is with or without an oil cooler. Some of the threads on forums say they put the sending unit in the oil pan and it worked ok. Have you heard anything on this subject. Thanks, Greg
Yes, we've heard similar comments and have now seen the sending unit in the pan and it does seem to work fine. Only problem is that it is often exposed in such a way that it can be easily knocked off if hit, like when going up or down a loading ramp. Just plan the mounting point. To do properly requires pan removal to make sure no fileings from drilling and tapping remain. Putting it in the drain plug might be a neat option, not tried it but maybe worth looking at.

I've installed the Oil Temp gauge on an 07 FLHX. It seems OK but the oil pressure seems to be much higher now. Running down the road at 2000 RPM it can be in the high 50s as well as when it is first started. Is this normal with the 26133-07 adapter and what oil pressure range can I expect it to see with this setup? It seems like the adapter has such a small hole for all the oil to go through that it would make more pressure but I'm no mechanic either.
Thanks
Jeff
We've not seen this particular problem but have been suspicious about the posibility of restrictions. We've seen at least one improperly installed that cut off oil supply. Normal oil pressure at 210 deg temp/3500 rpm typically is around 30lb +-5. Is your adapter in the return line or feed?
