Hey Mike,

Thanks for your expert insight to the questions I/we (my running buddies) have....it's really hard to find first hand/expert advise in our area, matter of fact it's a shame that we don't have someone like you and a Latus type dealership in out area we can trust.

I know there is a GA-ZILLION threads on oil vs syn oil....yada..yada...yada....I won't bore you with that or ask for recommendations.

I have been running Syn 3 in all 3 holes on my first 2 HD's....and on my current bike as well.

I'm making a change to Amsoil for the first time...unless someone can convince me otherwise.

I have a 07 Ultra Classic....cruise about 15k a year, lot's of city miles and 2-up a lot....in "Hot" Texas w/ no oil cooler.

I feel that after all I have read/researched that there is better products than Syn 3 on the market to help protect my bike.....whether Amsoil, Mobil 1, Red Line, Etc......which is the best is anyones guess and not what I want to ask you....

A trusted independent shop told me Amsoil was a great product...and recommended me using Amsoil MCV 20-50 in the crankcase, SGV in tranny and HD Forumla + in Primary?

The local Amsoil Rep recommends MCV 20-50 in all 3 holes but I'm not sure about that? He said the SGV was more "old school" and to drop the MCV in everything?

Any advise would be great!

Thanks Mike,

Mike

The MCV will be fine in the trans but stay with Form+ in the primary. Of course as a dealer, I'll recommend the H-D products if asked and for warranty questions.

I know you said you had enough of oil discussions, but thereis a site that ranks oils, by several industry standards, called the Oil Bible, it is kind of weird, the guy goes into the real Bible in the middle of this, doesn't bother me, just strange, but really good info. The rating guide is at the end of the document.
