I read some threads about modifiying the Y Pipe but could not find the original thread talking about it.
My question is,
1. are you gaining anything besides sound by doing the mod?
2. Is there any increases to HP,or TQ?
If so how much could we expect to recieve from this mod?
If it is worth some extra ponies and torque doing this I could see offering this to our customers as a small simple mod.
Your Knowledge is greatly appreciated thanks Mike for any and all of your advice it is nice to be able to ask a fellow tech and get good advice.

The dyno library on this site has examples of the affect of the mod. Goto dyno, exhaust then tests and compare.
Typ good for 3-5 hp on 88-96ci bikes with cams and other mods. Good for 6-8 as motor size and mods go up. Not a big affect on totally stock bikes. Around 110-115hp the stock head pipe starts to be a problem overall and we start to recommend complete systems making the "Y" pipe mod moot. The noise increase is a bit of a surprise as we have not had anyone mention or notice this and I would not have expected it.
