Mike you must spend an enormus amout of time with this forum. Thanks for all you do to improve the knowledge base. I have a 06 Ultra Classic bone stock at present. I want to increase performance as much as I can without having to go into the motor right now but I prefer quiter exhasut if I can get the same torque and HP or even close. Have access to SE slip-ons and Sampson slip-ons. Would like to know which you would recommend with your expetise and dyno experience. If there is some thing significantly better please let me know that also. Your ideas on air intake would be helpful too. I've not seen any data on air intake. Without recommendation I would have chosen SE or K&N. Would like to stay in that price range. Plan to use Power Commander. Your thoughts?
The Samsons will be louder than the SE's. The 50 state legal SE's are not much louder than stock but also do not boost hp/tq much (predictably). My favourite (today) are the V&H classic round slip-ons. Not real loud and great increase in performance with an exceptional torque curve. The SE air cleaner will support up to about 110hp with easy install. If we need more we upgrade that with the Zippers element upgrade kit (about 3/4 inch wider so leg room has been an issue with some).

Interesting opinion about V&H Classic Slip-ons. So, do you think best bang for the buck for real world performance / good low / mid range torque would be;
V&H Classic Slip-ons, K&N RK-3909 kit, and the matching V&H Fuel Pak?
Yes, that would be an excellent combo.
