Hey Mike Great forum,
I spoke to Thad and several others about my situation and had a couple of questions, Thad said I should check with you. My situation is I have done the y- pipe mod and noticed a 7decibal (Louder) difference with the stock mufflers re-installed and like the sound. I was told by a couple of people that the SE A/C was designed for the 88CI and I should use the Arlen Ness Stage 1 big Sucker as it would allow more airflow for the 96CI. When I do this upgrade I should get a few more decibal's with the added flow from the A/C. Would I be able to do the 103" Download or should I spend the money to get the race tuner? If I go with the race tuner should I re-map with the tune for the A/C upgrade and the "aftermarket" muffler since I have increased the flow by doing the y-pipe. I would like to know what it would run to have you guy's Dyno tune my bike after I do the A/C and Tuner if that is the way you would recommend to be the best path for my bike.

Thanks for the great info on the forums and hope to here from you soon.

Troy

Apologies for late reply. The Se air cleaner will support up to about 110 hp, so it's more a hp thing than motor size. the Big Sucker is a good product and may be more suited to the 96. We've been using the Zippers SE upgrade for those who alrady have the SE installed. Sound may increase a little with an air cleaner change but we've never had such a complaint (one of the reasons the H-D stock ac is enclosed is to reduce intake noise for emmisions). If you go to aftermarket mufflers, the Race Tuner and custom mapping would be th correct thing to do. If you stay with the 50 state legal mufflers, one of the H-D cals (including the 103) will work well. Note that Race Tuner has a cal library on the included CD and you can pick and choose from that list. Race Tuner is $459.95 and a custom map is now $346.95.
Thanks, Mike

What is the zippers S/E upgrade is it S/E or aftermarket. I may need it on this project bike I'm doing.
got an 01 flhtci did the 1550 kit and S/E cams. using samson mufflers as I like the looks and sound.
But 95% of my riding is at 6200 feet so I can use all the air I can get (short of a turbo).

The Zippers upgrade is a larger air filter element, similar to the SE 51 CV unit, that replaces the stock SE filter. It includes longer studs, accepts the same covers as the SE's and is the K&N type. Retails for $62.49 from us (on-line) or Zippers.
