Hi Mike. I have an appointment with you for a dyno tune on March 23rd. I'll be coming from Boise, dropping the bike off the afternoon before.
I'll have with me my SERT, and my current map on a CD. The synthetic oil will have less than 500 miles on it, and we are putting a new Rivera Pro clutch in it next week. The rear tire is in good condition, and I will fuel the bike with premium just prior to dropping it off. We plan to pick the bike up Saturday morning, the 24th and then head back home. We will be staying at a hotel about a block from your dealership. I also plan to call a couple weeks ahead and make sure everything is cool with the schedule.

Is there anything I have forgotten that I need to do?

The bike is an '06 Deuce. The build is 98" millenium cylinders, CP milled flat top pistons, 10.8:1 compression, R&R cast heads, RSP615 cams, S&S gear drive, roller rockers, feuling oil pump, Baisly spring, HP Inc. 55mm throttle body, and a D&D Fatcat with the standard baffle. Currently I have about 500 miles on the build, should be double that when I get there.

Sounds like you've got it covered!! I'll be looking forward to seeing you.

How do you get 10.8 with flatops? With .030 head gasket and zero deck height your heads would need to be 74cc.

Thanks, Sean

I hear those R&R cast heads are the best. Mike, have you had a chance to work with these heads before?

We have not worked with these heads. It'll be fun to see how things turnout, it's an opportunity for us to learn as well.

The top of the pistons were milled. The center, in the shape of the combustion chamber in the head, is raised to protrude up into the combustion chamber. Go to this site, and look at the 2nd & 3rd to the last pictures, and you will see pics of my pistons. The flat top design also helps eliminate detonation issues as compared to dome pistons. You will also see a set of R&R cast heads there.

The SERT map I currently have loaded into my bike is not from the same build I have. The differences are the map build has a set of HTCC CNC re-worked heads, a stock TB & intake, and a V&H BSS pipe. I might have forgot to list the Zippers air cleaner kit I have on the bike as well.

I'm guessing that there should be enough of a difference that Mike can build a new map that will show the differences in a substantial increase of numbers. I haven't seen the dyno sheet from the map I am using, so I don't have any idea what the torque curve looks like.

I'm REALLY looking forward to getting the tune done, locally there isn't any talent in this field.

We used to do something similar with EV's when using O-Ringed heads or cylinders.

I got the new Rivera Pro clutch in, and we put the new HD auto tensioner in while it was apart. Fresh synthetic oil for the engine, we are ready. Just need a few more miles on the engine.

Will I get a copy of my new map on a CD? Do you need to know what version software I have for my SERT?

See ya in a few weeks.

We are (aparently) one of the few shops that DO give you a CD of your custom map. No extra charge!!!! The software version is not needed, the latest retro's to earlier versions. DO NOT forget your ALDL (SERT black box) we need this to talk to YOUR bike, even our software does not allow multiple bike conversations. Cables not needed. We've had people travel long distances only to be forced to leave the bike, go home, ship us the ALDL and then return to pick up after the tune.

Sorry, I was thinking Iowa. I know, I know, a long ways apart! Sorry!

We've got a customer that ships his bike from South Carolina!!! Not bragging (well maybe a little) but still it amazes us. In Iowa, see Ron Dicky at Axtell Sales.

The trip was a huge success. 125.70 HP and 114.06 torque, and a very broad, flat torque curve. The bike pulls hard and fast all the way through to the rev limiter. Mike did an outstanding job, the whole crew at Latus are great to deal with. The price I paid for the tune was a bargain, considering what I got in return. Hell, we spent more than that on t-shirts and a jacket while we were there! Thanks Mike, Thad, and Sam for making the 425 mile trip (one way) well worth it!

Great results!

I assume that is 5th gear STD...did you do a 4th gear SAE run as well?

Can you post the dyno chart here?

Sean

Yes, no.
Mike will be posting it in the dyno sheet section also.

I meant to do a 4th gear but forgot before I pulled the bike from the dyno. SAE (5th) numbers were 122/111.
