View Full Version : High Beam-Low beam-Passing Lamps
Hi Mike,
Do you see any reason I shouldn't/can't seperate the passing lamps from the high beam circuit? I have a 2007 Ultra Classic..
First, being I can run the passing lamps and high beam when really needing the extra lighting (no on coming traffic - rural areas)
Second, that would keep me from swapping out my stock lamps for larger wattage lamps...which I don't want to get into...read to many pro's & con's...more confused now.
Third, if my head light circuit fails for some reason, I would still have lighting to get me down the road...
Thought's?
If you agree, do you have any directions/suggestion on doing so?
Thanks,
Ty
We cannot condone this since it is illegal in some areas, but many have done it for similar reasons. Check local laws before doing so. You may find instructions to do so on other forums.

Sorry CHOO-CHOO, but as not only a dealership but also as representatives of H-D, we have to delete info that we cannot condone. As I've stated in the earlier reply this info is available on other forums. Info on this site, whether written by us or others, is considered by the readers as endorsed by us, and so only info we can endorse will be available here.

Hey, no worries, I've had to delete some of MY replies. I really appreciate you understanding. Yes, E-mails or other forum address' are fine. Trying to keep rules to a minimum. We're going to post a sort of "use of Forum" note soon, just so no confusion. This thing has just gotten big enough that we feel it may help.

ok, for those that followed the thread, you know it can be done but Because of board regs I can't post how to do it here.
But Mike gave permission for you to pm me or vice versa, or search another forum.

I forgot to add in email me choo_choo@millect.com I can tell you how there if you want
Doing so does NOT mean I condone, endorse or encourage you to do it.
Just a note for any who may be considering this option. I changed the wiring on my H-D Deluxe so that the passing lamps are on with both high-beam and low-beam and would have to say that, given 20-20 hindsight, I wouldn't do it again. I find that the passing lamps are great with the low-beams on, giving a bright and wide field of vision. But, with the high-beams on, having the passing lamps on as well tends to be more of a distraction than a help. The P/L's still light up the field of vision close in, but that's not where you want to focus your attention or you wouldn't have the high-beams on. Most of the time I end up reaching down and shutting off the P/L's with the toggle switch when using the high-beams. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for thats that insight :)
I think I'll just go for the bulb(s) upgrade....there's a lot good info on better bulbs out there.
Thanks
