View Full Version : SE slip ons

This is one of the most informative forums I have seen. Thanks in advance for the information and advice. One more question over the confusion over slip ons. My local dealer is still under the impression that 07 50 STATE LEGAL SE slipons require a race tuner with or without a SE air cleaner kit. I have been told that slip ons by themselves require nothing, and in combo with A/C require a download only? Is there any info, e.i. bulletins, HD literature that states this in black and white. My dealer claims he can use only the tuner unless he receives something from HD? This does not make sense to me, unless the motor company has not issued something to clarify this situation. Any info. you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
J.M

There was an insert in "Service News Shop Talk", winter 06. Stating that the 50 state legal mufflers "no need to reprogram the engine ECM when the mufflers are installed", when used on 07 models. They go on to say that the stg. 1 high flow air cleaner has an associated ecm calibration. The enterpretation is that when the mufflers are installed while using the STOCK air cleaner, no recalibration is required. When an air cleaner kit (stg 1) is installed, recalibration IS required whether used with stock mufllers or SE 50 state legal mufflers. Last, the P&A catalog DOES NOT state that recalibration is required in the SE Legal muffler descriptions. If it were required, it would be listed or stated (as it is for "Race" mufflers and 49 state legal catalyst mufflers.
Thanks, Mike
