Front axle stud / for axle holder

Hi Mike

my front axle stud broke Question
can this be fixed (drilled out and tapped new stud put in ) or should a new silder fork assembly be purchased?

It can be drilled and removed but if the drill bit wanders off center, then things become difficult. A good machine shop can use some enteresting methods to remove but the leg must be removed from the bike. Another possibility is to have the stud "EDM'm". This method basically desolves the stud using an electric arc. Finding someone with this capability can be tricky but there are shops in Portland. Check cost with your machinist, it is not unusual for the cost of a new part to be less than trying to save it.

Had it fixed at the dealer.
there was enough bolt stiking out to turn it out.

I had them both replaced
