If I wanted to go up to a 103" build, along with boring the stock 88" out to 95" cylinders, could I buy the screaming eagle pro stroker assembly part 23728-07 which is original 103" cvo stroker flywheel that fits 1999-2005 dynas (as well as some of the dressers)? I know i would have to buy different pistons as well as my desire to have the heads ported, etc. Just checking to see if this stroker assembly would work, because it seems to be much more economical than buying an equivalent 4 3/8 stroke flywheel assembly through harley davidson.

Yep!!! ;) We've been doing this for some time and apparently others also since HD now offers the CVO flywheels in the SE Pro catalog. Still not sure if the the Softail models retained the parabolic rod ends in the SE Pro version. Piston choices get restricted if they did. The touring models should have the "square" rods as shwon in the SE photo and should accomadate most piston choices. Balancing could become a question with some of the forged pistons and may be considered in such cases.

I have been told that SE pro and cvo flywheels are not the same - and that the quality is different?

There are two styles of SE Pro 4-3/8 stroke flywheels offered by Screaming Eagle. The less expensive p/n 23782-07 (referenced in your thread) is in fact the CVO flyhweels repackaged for SE (hence the part number change) and are of the same quality. Your friend may be refering to those supplied by Jims Machining to H-D, p/n 23600-00. These incorporate fully machined rods/flywheels and utulize a different rod bearing race stratigy (distinguished by the looser fit) that may be more suitable when used in higher rpm/hp environments. They are also priced higher at $1049.95 (Jim's) vs. $699-95 (note that the Jims have been reduced in price from $1324.95). Most street aplications simply do not see stresses requiring the more expensive flywheels (same logic applies to cast pistons vs. forged). conversly, if the bike were to be used frequently at the drag strip then these parts would be justified. This is why our conversations with owners to determine the entended use of bikes and owners expectations are so important. One, not to spend HIS money needlessly. Two, to insure that we deliver a reliable package that will realize the goals. This forum and our one-on-one performance consultations are how we and the customer learn and identify these things. Few other shops invest this amount of time with customers and performance packages (or have the knowledge/experiance to do so).
