Mike,

I have a 2005 Electra Glide, I have a 103 stroker kit installed. It's had some headwork done and a Dave Mackie 590 lift cam with a 45 mm Flat slide Carb. I currently have the SE touring mufflers (That the local H-D dealer "gutted" for performance. I am only getting 95 HP with 102 Ft lbs of Torque. I was reading the September issue of American Iron and they had an article on your 95" upgrade that was putting out the same numbers as my 103. (At a lot cheaper price I would guess) Anyway, I suspect that it may be my exhaust that is my bottle neck. I do not want to go with a 2 into 1 system. I have heard that the True Dauls although they sound awesome actually will make me go backwards in HP and Torque. I noticed in your artical that you used a set of Rhinehart slip-ons. Do you think a set of those would allow my engine to breath better then the gutted SE Touring mufflers?

Actually, the magazine bike had Rhinehart true duals. Of the true dual systems on the market, the Rhineharts give the best peak numbers but with a significant torque dip down low (as can be seen on the published dyno graph). There are some TD systems that can reduce performance, again more so an larger motors. I.E. as motor size and hp potential goes up, exhaust choice becomes more critical. Normally we would talk about the torque dip between 2-3k rpm but I suspect you have a similar dip now with the muffler mods by your dealer. The Mackie heads and cams are good choices when, used together, and you should see 103-110 HP and 105-110 torque peaks (5th gear STD) with the Rhineharts and proper tune. There are a number of examples of 103's with RHTD's in our dyno library on this site.
