Mike, what's the procedure and availability for purchasing SERT maps?

I've got a 2007 FLHX with stage I consisting of SE AC and '05 style SE slip-ons. My bike seems to run okay with the SERT provided #78 map, but I'm looking for something that will help it run a little cooler and hopefully get rid of what I suspect is a lean surge during closed loop operation.

Anything for the '07s yet?

Yes, we have a map developed here for your combo. They are $47.50 and can be e-mailed or sent via cd/floppy after credit card verification by our internet sales dpt. Contact me on my direct e-mail address, mike.stegmann@teamlatus.com with your phone number so that our I.S. person can arrange payment, if you wish. Or you can call the store at 1-800-446-2525 and ask for internet sales, tell them you talked with me and would like to purchase a Race Tuner map file.
Thank you for using our web site!! Mike

Thanks again, Mike. I look forward to trying the map and I'll post my results here once I have a chance to try it for a bit.

Mike, at this point I've been able to get about 250 miles on the bike with the new map. My initial impression is a good one.

The "hunt and peck" surging of the closed loop portion of the map seems to have calmed down a good bit, and at steady cruising around 2800-3000 rpm in 4th and 5th, it's almost unnoticeable.

Power roll-ons in first, second, and third are nice and strong all the way up to 4500 rpm, which is more or less as high as I'm going until I get a few more miles on the bike.

The motor still puts out a good bit of heat, but it does seem less than before. Possibly due to the fact that the lean closed loop range is a bit smaller?

Today, I tried an amendment to the map and raised the closed loop bias table 5 units across the board to richen it up a bit in closed loop. And I also advanced the spark timing by one degree throughout the front and rear cylinder tables to hopefully help cool things down a bit more. It was a little cooler here in South Florida today than it has been, about 85 deg, so I don't know if it was a fair comparision, but my oil temps were staying in the 220's instead of the 240's-250's where it's typically been running.

So, thanks for the map! Money well spent, as far as I'm concerned. One last question though, does it sound like the changes I made to the CLB and spark timing tables will be beneficial toward cooler running, or should I just be leaving well enough alone?

Thank you for the update. Both changes sound good. Advanced timing will lower EGT and then heat off the pipes, in theory. Still a bit green on the real affects of changing sensor bias but your move seems proper.

I've got a couple thousand miles on the bike now and your map is still a keeper.

Now that everything seems to be broken in my oil temp rarely goes above about 230 F. I did wind up maxing out the closed loop bias tables to richen up that portion of the cruise map a bit but haven't made any other changes. Bike runs strong up to around 4500 rpm where it begins to run out of steam, about typical for a Stage I 96", I guess.

My only question at this point is have you guys experimented any with the timing since I got the map from you? I don't have any ping that I'm aware of and wondering if there's any benefit to be had from some advance.

Thanks

We've been playing with the timing a lot but have yet to see a clear pattern. Each bike seems to want something a little different. One thing we've noticed is the 96's do not like a lot of advance, start to detonate very easily. We've been ending up around 26-28 max (though we've had acouple of Dyna's that could stand 30). It may be a ring seal issue in that the bikes we've been dynoing are fairly low milage. The rings may not be fully seated, allowing some oil to contaminate the fuel mix, causing some detonation. Just not enough time with the 07's to date.
Thank you for the feedback, Mike

Thanks, Mike. I'll just leave well enough alone for now. As I said, the bike runs great with your tweaked map but i usually like to play with stuff until I break it. I'll probably bump up the cubic inches in the future anyway, once more is known and more combos become available.
