I have a 04 FLSTFI with pc111 usb, ness big sucker, S&S 510 G cams and caliber 2-1 exhuast, 90% 2 up riding and touring in the rockie mountains of colorado and new mexico
Needing more low end torque in the 2k - 3k rpm range, thinking of 95" and porting heads
what compression ratio should I be looking at and what stage of head porting should I look at, do I stay with stock valve sizes or up it to 1.900 on the intake
to accomplish my goals of 90+ torque at the 2000 -2500 rpm range, I'm currently making 83 ft of torque at at about 3200 rpm
any advice would be appreciated

Simply going to 95ci may accomplish that goal with all the other mods you've done. Porting the heads will help a little but more so in the 3700 and up area. May not be worth the expense given your goal. With ported heads I would also recommend a cam change to take full advantage of them. Similar timing to what you are running but more lift. The T-Man 600's are very good and are gear drive. The compression ratio will be a function a of what cam is selected or vice-versa. We like approx. 10-10.5 for street motors that are properly cammed for that compression. When done so, pump gas is fine (good tune with no detonation) and the torque boost is 5-10ft lb over 9.0 motors. Mildly ported heads will be more than adequate, again with the more expensive porting focusing on higher rpm's. As far as valve sizes (and pos cam selection) we recommend defering to the Head porter. They typ know what works best with their port design/valve sizes. FYI, we use Baisley High Performance for most of our porting and head work and most of our cam compression recommendations are based on his heads. We want to be carefull about the torque expectations because of the huge affect exhaust and cam overlap has on the very area you are trying to improve. Doing the above should simply take your current torque curve higher while maintaining the same shape.
Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike, I have one more question for one of my riding buddies, He has a 01 Electraglide carbureted that he is getting his parts together fora 95 build
he has HTCC heads and pistons, 2-1 SE Pro pipe, adjustable push rods, and planning on S&S super E carb, Any recommendations on a cam for this set up?
he also is looking for power in the 2000 - 3000 rpm range

The H-D cam would be the SE 251 for low end power and is compatible with this setup. Lighter bikes can use the 257 but will be a little lazier in the 2-3k range. Aftermarket cams; the Knightprowler TW6H or TW8 are excellent and available in gear drive, the S&S 570 or 585, T-man 590 are also good choices.

Mike
I did my upgrade to a 95" HTCC non ported heads and pistons matching intake manifold with my existing S&S 510 cams
and 2-1 header with a SE touring muffler trying to keep the noise level down. The WIFE really likes the muffler!
Question do you have a map file for a PCIII that would get me close untill I can get to a competent tuner and if so how do I get my hands on it
BTW I also did my buddies upgrade with ported HTCC heads and pistons, Wood TW5G cams, 2-1 SE Pro pipe, roller rockers, SE ignition on his electra glide waiting to break-in before dyno But I can tell ya that bike pulls like a BULL!
Thanks for your HELP

Hey Mike, thats okay I went to the local shop to get a stage 2 download as a back-up feature, when asked about tuning I let them know I wasn't happy with the last tune they did and without hesitation they did a redo on the house, Now I have to take back most eveything I said about them, The new guy did a real good job ended up with 90hp/99tq
I'm pretty happy with the numbers but like everyone else would have liked to see a little higher hp, propably in the exhaust ! 3/4 " baffle instead of 2"
again this is 04 Fatboy 95" htcc non ported heads, pistons,2-1 Caliber exhaust and S&S 510 G cams
Maybe next time I get a wild hair I'll look at a higher lift cam
Thanks
