how have you been tuning 07's with the o2 sensor and the catylist muffler. if you remove the o2 sensor and tune thru the o2 port do you lose tune when you reset reference back on race tuner and o2 returned to pipe
The O2's eleminated the need for catalyst mufflers on 07's. Probing through the O2 port should not affect the tune (may help since you are close to the exh port). The tuning should be done with the AFR table flatlined to 13.5 (we use 13.2) in those cells above that number only and tuned so that tail pipe AFR matches AFR table values (except those below 13.2). Since the two now match, the AFR offsets will be accurate when plugged back in. Leave lower numbered cells as they are as this will help acheive target AFR's in those area's without maxing out the VE values.(still target 13.5/13.2 out the pipe, regardless of AFR number in these cells). Reinstalling the O2's and pasting the O.E. AFR tabe back in should not affect tune in an undesirable way since WOT and higher RPM/TP's are not changed. Doing so will allow overlay tuning with the O2's and the fuel milage/low emissions associated with it. You can, however reduce the number of AFR cells in which the O2's are active (typ. in higher RPM/TP openings) by reducing the AFR value below 14.6 (select values closer to your actual exhaust AFR of 13.5) so that the O2's enfluence is more confined providing more area optimized for performance.
Thanks, Mike
thanks mike we also set our map to 13.2, prior to this we would tune thru the map kpa and then thru VE front and rear. i printed out the sert manual and noticed we had been tuning incorrectly all these years since the sert came out. no body had read the manual before. we have one tech that still changes timing evenso we asked him not to since we are getting a better tune now. plus with knock off we can tune for it once we reset knock and reset reference table.
we had three bikes come in for detonation last week and according to the data we pulled off of the bike thru the sert data mode as bikes were stock. we sent in the info to hd and was informed we weren't hearing knock we were actually hearing a defect in the cases interfering with the fly wheels that sounded like a knock. you may want to ask about that on your end. tech services told us it is only a knock if the knock sensor reads above 6 then knock ocurrs then the timing is retarded. i just built a 103 2007 flhx with sert stock cams hi flow and python slip-ons hopefully weather will hold out and i can tune in the next week or so. have fun
Thanks for the info, Mike
