View Full Version : 95 tune up time??

Mike,
About 15,000 miles ago you did a 251 build for me. It sounds like the lifter noise is increasing a bit and I'm wondering if it's about time for an adjustment?? I'd like to know if you'd suggest a new dyno with my race tuner and of course new plugs/?? at the 20,000 miler. I'm at 19,000 and change now and really am curious about new dyno after this mileage. The old chart is in the 251 section under Ashe. 103+ and 116+ at rebuild break-in. Let me know your thoughts and I'll combine my 20,000 with your suggestions.
Thanks in advance

Mike

The noise may be a concern and require new lifters (not unusual for even stock bikes with that milage). We could try adjusting the pushrods a little lower in the lifters (assuming adjustable pushrods) but this does not always make a difference. A re-dyno should not be required unless a change to the combo was made. We now have a new Dynojet 250i dyno which reads lower than the previous 250 models (note HD's advertised hp for the Destroyers vs those numbers on the AHDRA 250i and Dynojets hp expectations for same). The new dyno reads appprox. 8% lower so that needs to be factored when comparing to 250 numbers. This is not unique to Latus and is becoming more and more realized by the rest of the industry. However, the HP gains are still the same regardless of which dyno is used. I.E., a 30hp gain is still a 30hp gain on either dyno.
