I am new here. Do you recommend mechanics or shops regionally? This last year many Harley dealers in Calif are gunshy with nonstock equipment and tuning. The great tuners at dealers are tuning no more in those shops. Calif has come down on the shops that do the performance work. Do you recommend any shops in different areas? Do you allow for members recommendations?
The only tuner that I know of that will do the job right, as many passes as it takes, is in AZ. The HD dealers that did awesome dyno SERT tuning in SoCalif are not doing it any more. Can anyone point me toward a qualified SERT tuner who will do the right job, not just charge big bucks for a canned map?
I expect to keep a copy of the tune and my SERT in case of trouble. I have talked to a dozen or so so called tuners that either refuse to give me a copy or who do not want to dial it in. I think that the only tune I can get is one that has lean AFR, and they tune it like a closed system would. I want max torque and performance with lean cruising, I expect at least 15 passes to dial it in. Is this possible? I have an 04 bagger from out of state, so they would not be bypassing any Calif requirements.:(

I gather from your post you are not local (Latus is in NW Oregon). If you are still in California, you might reach more folks on V-TwinForum.com (something like that). It is a large, well run board, with contributors from all over the country (and world sometimes).

If the bike is not registered in Ca. or spends the majority of its use on Ca. roads, then tuning can be done. We both sell maps (via enternet) and custom map. You do get a CD of your map when done along with the Race Tuner CD, cables, ALDL and dyno charts. We also keep it on permanant file here and can e-mail or send to you if needed (lost CD or ?) at any time (no charge). A custom SERT map is $329.95 can take 2-4 hours, plan on a full day for paper work, detail, quality inspect, etc.. You can check our reputation with T-man perf., Zippers, Axtell Sales and others.

Although there is certainly nothing wrong with the bigger forums, one of which you mentioned, my experience on both of them is that they contain more non H-D information (read that in a very general sense) than they do H-D information in the way of technical content. So, I am very pleased to have found this forum through American Iron magazine. :)
