2007 exhaust upgrades

Mike - I am considering purchasing a 2007 Roadglide but can't get a straight answer on whether the exhaust and air cleaner can be upgraded. I would like to go with a SE A/C and a Bassani Road Rage pipe. Can this be done?

Most of the exh. manufacturers are scrambling to get the O2 sensor ports in for the 07 models. They are not there yet but should be soon, Bassanni among them. So, yes (in time) you can do these upgrades with the O2 sensors. Another possibility not often discussed is that you can run without the O2's. Using Race Tuner (required in any case), you can lower the AFR values to numbers which effectively turn off the O2's because of their narrow range (band). Then you simply tune as any non O2 bike (this is actually how we currently tune O2 bikes and when done we plug back in the AFR values which allow the O2's to work). Of course you will not have the added fine tuning the O2's afford, but if the new custom tune is accurate, then there should not be a lot left for the O2's to correct. If the proper Race Tuner file is used for the base to tune from, you will not get an engine light. So this is an option for those who just cannot wait or for systems that do not (and may never) have O2 ports.
