Hello Mike,

I have a 95" build with the new style tensioners from the '06 FXDs. Plate, pump, sprockets, etc. Matching cams were re-machined to fit my '02 inner bearings.

Fresh top end, ported stock heads, 10.25-1 cast SEs [10.3-1 with .030" gaskets], 180 lb springs, 20/50 dino oil for break-in. There is *some* valvetrain noise. Not hateful, but more than I'd hoped for.

Have you done '06 dyna builds with 251s? If so, how was the noise level? I'm running 3 turns on Crane quicky pushrods. I may try less.

Do you recommend your pressure relief spring? I'd try it, if you think that it might help.

Thanks much in advance.
Dave

We have not done mods to the 06 Dyna's other than pipes and SERT. I, would recommend the LMR-002 spring which was designed to help address just such issues (we install it with all cams). Sometimes a half turn up or down on the pushrods can make a difference.
Thanks, Mike

Mike,

Thanks for your reply. It's actually a carb'd '02 FHLT. The new style cams were modified to fit the old inner bearings.

I ordered the spring from Dan Baisley yesterday. I'm going to try less than the current 3 turns pre-load. Some guys at HTT have had good luck with as little as 1.25 turns with normal lifters.

The 180 lbs springs may also be overkill, but I'll try other things first.

Best Regards,
Dave
