problem with cv carb

I resently purchased a 96` sportster 1200C. I've been having problems with when it gets hot from riding in the Phoenix, Az. heat that it starts spitting and sputtering like it's not getting and fuel and will barely run under a load. But if I turn it off for about a half hour or more it starts and runs just fine for a bit till it gets warmed up again. Wondering if it could be a problem with the carb. or something worse. Thanks,

Could be the vacume fuel valve or restricted (clogged, dirty) air cleaner.
