I am getting an "error" on the speedometer when I turn the key. Not sure what this might be and would be greatful
for any suggestions. Thanks :)
I'm currently in Iowa (AHDRA drags) but will research this further when back an hopefully give you a more complete answer. I believe 03 was the year they integrated the speedo into the engine management (pos. 04) and this would normally indicate a historic speedo fault code is present as a function of the initial self diagnostic. Does the speedo operate normally otherwise?
Thanks, Mike
This is my later reply as promised. First, is the speedo working correctly? Are the turn signals working correctly (self canceling)? Was the bike tipped over anytime recently? The "ERR" indictates a set trouble code. To acces the code(s), hold the speedo reset switch in and then turn on the igition switch. Do not hold the reset switch for more than 5 seconds after turning on the ignition, doing so will clear any codes present. The first trouble code will then be displayed. If more than one trouble code is present, they can be displayed by pushing the reset switch again for each additional code, while in diagnostic mode. Diagnostic mode will be exited when the ignition is turned off. Once the codes are identified, we can go from there.
Thanks, Mike
