leak down testing

Mike, I would like to do a leak down test on my 03 Roadglide....experiencing some oil use and would like to rule that out. My question is: how do you lock the motor down at TDC? 1st gear? Thank you for your help....

Not Mike for sure but I lock the rear brake and use 5th gear.

Yep, 5th gear. I like to put a rod through the rear wheel up against the swingarm (using leather between to keep from scratching) when doing by myself. Otherwise a helper can hold the brake while pressurized. Better method is to have a helper hold a wrench on the compensator nut but this requires removing the outer primary cover. Look for 2-8% as ok, much above 10% should be looked at.
