Mike i am switching my mackie 598 back to a tw8g cam , going to use woods 160 springs what seat would you run 155?

roller - x lifters , i have the gear lash as good as it can get, gears are 0 lash except for 2 points and thats just barley any movment , i am sure thats because of runout.

i have had his cams in before but with a delkron plate and had more lash very noisey at hot idle , i have tried a bunch of cams but none ran as good as the 8's

, so any other tricks to get them to run as quite as i can , just the top end clatter was the issue at hot idle.

i even had someone tell me to run thicker oil like redline 20/60 . or lucas oil additive, just want your opinion on anything elese i can do

I would differ the seat pressure question to Bob Woods. My knee jerk answer would be no less than 160 on the seat. Lighter pressure would lessen the potential for noise but control may become an issue with the 1.7 rockers and high rpm's (i.e. bounce and float). Heavier oil would not be a problem so long as you do not end up in the Arctic. I've never been a big fan of additives since most good oils will have what is needed, but it may be worth a try to be proved wrong. Unfortunately, some noisy motors just defy all attempts to quite them.
Thanks, Mike
