Mike how did your test today on your bike compare with known dyno numbers? Wondering if you found any deficiency. As a side note my charging system started only charging 12 volt to max of 13 volts about half of the way home. I made it ok without stopping. The bike started in my garage but still shows low charging. Any chance this is related to the dyno? I know it is probably just on of those coincidences. Any thoughts on where I should look voltage reg would be my guess.

Thanks I enjoyed meeting you yesterday and having the opportunity to talk with you.

Thanks for the compliments. The dyno can accelerate some failures that were shortly emminant, I.E. if it failed on the dyno it would have failed relatively soon even without the dyno work. The dyno really does not stress bikes as some believe. There is an arguement it's easier on motors than street use. I would check the stator/regulator plug to make sure it is fulley engaged. If so, then I would check the stator for shorts to ground or open windings. Easly done with an OHM meter. The other thing that can go wrong is the magnets on the rotor coming loose. This is harder to verify from outside but you can pull the primary magnetic drain plug and look for magnet debris. Last. pull the chain adjuster cover and see if the oil or primary chest smells burned. It'll be a strong and undeniable burned smell. It all this checks OK then the regualtor is all that is left (assuming a good battery and connections). Sorry for the hassel! How does the bike run otherwise?
The V-rod test was done today and showed a 8HP loss. We also had the chance to compare a fully tuned bike on our dyno to a tune done on another and also showed similar difference. We are calculating, at this time, an 8% difference between our old dyno and the new. I've E-mailed Dynojet with the data we've collected so far and am waiting a reply.

Thanks Mike I would appreciate any info you come up with about the dyno differences. As for the charging I decided I didn't want to dig into the bike now so I have turned the problem over to the indy that is here is Walla Walla. We ride together and I am sure he will fix me up. I am guessing it is the stator. Bike seems to run fine. It started hard when I picked it up from you but seems to be fine now, maybe some water from your wash job. I will keep you posted.
