Hi Mike;
Just on gps (general principles) I thought I would give Baisley Hi-performance a call to see if they thought there is any little thing which might be useful to do to my SE HTCC CNC ported heads. I don't want to leave any stone unturned and all that, don't you know.
Well, Mr. Baisley told me those heads are subject to detonation. Ulp. I had to go have dinner and all during dinner I was thinking about my expensive motor grenading because of detonation.
After dinner I called back and spoke to Mr. Baisley Jr. He told me the same thing; sharp edges causing hot spots and things such as that; plus he told me about valve seats falling out, valves breaking and ruining pistons, and so on; so now I am comtemplating more conversations with Mr. Baisley Sr. if I can catch him early in the day next week; and contemplating sending my jugs and slugs and heads to the Baisley family to see if they can fix them so they don't come apart. Any thoughts on things to ask for?
Do you think I would be wise to abandon the used heads and new pistons and new clys I have and start over? The cases are still apart so I could go to someone else's 117 cu. in. cyls and pistons, and get some dandy heads from Baisley I imagine. Now that I have come this far I don't want to have something put together which is going to be a constant worry because of potential mechanical problems.
Maybe I should stop doing so much investigation but I can't.
Regards;
David Jackson
