Hello Mike,
I am bringing in my Blackhawk 240 next tuesday for a dyno tune. Have 1000 miles on it and changing the exhaust to Vance & Hines Big Radius. A question I have asked others and never got a clear answer to, is there a difference between setting up a bike to make max horsepower or max mileage? My understanding is if the engine is at peak tune you get both. This bike has pleanty of horsepower and would hate to see my mileage drop. I am getting around 38 to 40 mpg now. Thanks for your input.

That's the beauty of fuel injection, you CAN have both. We tune part throttle, light load mid RPM areas for AFR of 14.1-14.3(except 06 Dyna's). When you transition out of these areas, then the AFR can be set for max power at 12.8-13.3 in those spreadsheet cells which apply. Carbureted bikes often require a compromise between fuel econ. vs. hp because of overlaping fuel circuits and signals. Your milage is very near what we expect (40-44) and may improve with the tune. If you do have concerns after the tune, let us know. We can adjust the mapping to suit you specifically. This is not unusual and we are happy to do it.
Regard, Mike
