I have a '97 FLHT that I'm going to be putting in a 100" S&S motor, we're still trying to figure out which cam. I'm going to use a 45mm Mikuni kit. I'm wondering whether to use a White Brothers 2 into 1 e series with the mountain motor core (which I just located one) or a Supertrapp 2 into 1 Supermeg? Also how would you recommend setting up? Thanks

Both will perform about the same with the same number of disc and standard cores. The E-Series will make higher peak hp numbers with the mountain core, with the associated torque dip. The setup will depend on where you want your peak torque and riding style. The mountain core is really a hp application and may not be what you want for a touring bike unless you're willing to downshift on steep hills and passing. Less of a problem as motor size gets bigger or as cam duration and overlap are kept low.
I would start with 12 disc in either, do minor tuning (main jet for now, maybe some ignition) see how the shape of the curve looks, add 4 discs, run again and obvserve the affect. Repeat until you no longer see hp increases. Then simply decide which disc count gave the best curve shape for your application. Alternately, remove the entire disc pak, make a run and decide the number of discs based on the knowledge that the final shape of the curve will be somewhere between 12 and no discs. Typically 24 discs is about equal to no discs. Once decided, then final tune for that setup.
Thanks, Mike
