Mike
I am going to have my bike tuned this summer. I need
your approch on this. Where would you start after "baseline" run. I want to make sure it will be tuned properly to get the max for my
money. The dyno is a 250i. Would you start @ the Mik-42 or the DTT
ign, e-pipe? Walk me through....your way. My build:
Ported tc-95" heads
SE 251
J&E 95" flt tops
DTT ign
VPC clutch
E-pipe
MIkuni-42
thx for your time........ GG
I like to get the carb as close as possible then go to the ignition. Once done with ign I may revisist the carb. It is always good to do part throttle with load to check needle position. If you are using DTT trim pots only expect whole process to take about 2hrs. Add time if you do exh tuning (Supertrapp, E series, Hooker, etc.), PC programming of ignition and carb/needle access issues (custom air cleaner, gas tank, etc.). Regards, Mike

I have a cable to hook up to computer but I don't
know if this will benifit in the tuning of the bike ( tcfi-c)?
or just to adj it manually as we are dynoing the bike?
The cable is for PC programming and will add time. We have not spent a lot of time doing this because we get pretty good results with the trim pots. If detonation kicks in but the motor likes the hp of an aggresive curve then we would use PC to modify specific areas. This gets a little tricky because of the difficulty maintaining consistant run temperatures. You can end up burning a lot of dyno time and most people are not willing to pay for this time for the typically minor gains. The gains can be greater in more exotic motors since we are in a little more unkown territory with these.
Thanks, Mike
