Do you see any advantage to a SE 44-cv carb
over the Mikuni 42? The slide rattles alot !!!! Do you
have any customers running a Dakota kid carb? And
what are your thoughts

The SE 44 and Mik 42 perform about the same on our dyno with a slight advantage going to the Mikuni. Yes, the slide does rattle at idle. The SE44 tends to be a little more "user friendly" in that it does a better job of adjusting for altitude, stock like installation, less expensive and is cruise compatible (newer versions, the Mik. can be with a kit). Many feel the Mik. has better throttle response with a sharper feel. The Mik. ouflows the CV on the flow bench and should allow for more HP on well prepped motors but in these cases we normally go with the Mik. 45 or 48. I prefer the CV for touring bikes and the Mikuni for HP hot rods.
The Dakota Kid works really well for stock carb. mods. and is similar to Wood Auto but less expensive. We have found no performance advantage to modifying either the SE 44 or 51 (when used with the Tuners Kit).
