I recently bought an eighteen inch front wheel for my road king custom. After receiving it , I anticipated just buying a lower profile tire and there you go?? However, now I'm seeing that profile, thread, load rating are but a few of the considerations I overlooked, So, Mike , given that I want the new wheel, and also want the approximate same profile /height and of course handling, roadability, etc,, I'm asking your consideration of my predicament. The stock tire has a load rating of 783 lbs and speed rating of 139 mph and leaves very little side fender clearance. I'm finding that for a different height/aspect ratio to get my height and maintain looks, I will loose load rating no matter whose tire I look too! So, how low a load rating can I go without compromising the safety of my ride??

Neal, I have not forgot your question. My apologies for a late reply but I've been in Milwaukee, Wi. this past week. I'm doing some research and hope to have an answer for you soon.

Mike,

I bought Metzler front and rear and ended up with a higher rated tire on the rear ( load wise) and somewhat less (675 lbs) in the front.
The size that fit the best for my touring model is a 140/70-18 67H and 140/90- B16* 77H (908 lbs). The interesting thing I found is the Metzlers completely eliminated the wooble I experienced in higher speed turns with the Dunlops. Hope this info agrees with your findings because I'm very happy with the look and ride and I'm satisfied with the load ratings.

P S Sorry about the wrong catagory for my original question

I tell people that all the time, the Metz is simply a much better handling tire on an Eglide.
I've got 103,000 on my 2000 FLHTC and have run Metz since the OEM Dunlops wore out.
Never a serious wobble in all those miles on the Metz.
