New Tach

HI Mike,
On an '05 SuperGlide Custom, what are the tach options. I heard since 04' they are not installed the same way. What tachs are available for this model that a gearhead like me can install. Thanks.

Tom, Thanks for using the forum. The H-D kit part number 67224-04 ($266.95) is going to be your best bet. It converts your single gauge mount to a dual gauge setup to allow the tach to mount next to the speedo. It comes pre-wired and simply plugs into your main harness (behind the headlight). The main harness is already pre-wired, as well. It's a snap and should be no problem for you.
There are some aftermarket options but these must get their signal directly from the coil, which means breaking into the wiring. I would be very nervous about the consequenses of doing this. The 04L ICM/TSM/SPEEDO J1850 serial bus circuits are very sensitive to changes in signal strength and feedback. Also, the mounting brackets can be problematic with your console lights.
