I see two CV 44mm carbs listed in Harleys catalog(s)! One is a #27934-99, which is listed for a 90-99 evo and 99 up twin cam. And a newer one that is a #27007-00, which is shown as a "street Legal" 44mm for 01'- later twinn cam. Do you know what the difference is? And why wouldn't one work on the other? From the pic, it looks like the later model #27007-00 has a metal fuel inlet, and the earlier model #27934-99 has a plastic fuel inlet.

It will be going on a S&S 107 Evo motor.

The "street legal" p/n 27007-00 is emissions compatible/49 state legal when used with other "street legal" combo's, is set up leaner and is cruise compatible. The "race only" p/n 27934-99 is set up richer, does not support cruise, supports the Race Tuners kit and is not "street legal". Both versions now have the metal fuel inlet.
Note, if the Race Tuners Kit (p/n 27419-99 or basic kit p/n 27409-00) is installed in the 27007-00 "street legal" carb, it is no longer "street legal" and becomes "race only". Since you will be rejetting for the 107, the choice will be a funtion of whether you have cruise or not.

Mike, would either of these carbs make a difference on a mild 95 inch build ie stock heads and tw21 cams with 2:1 supertrapp? thanks

Our testing has shown that a well tuned stock (40mm) carb will support the hp that your combo can generate. However, customers routinely tell us that their bikes run better/stronger when changed to the 44's. We cannot give dyno charts that support these impressions.
Thanks, Mike
